To make
Winx Club wings stay up, you need a strong, stable base attached to a secure mounting system, such as a wire U-harness or corset. The structure and attachment method are the most important factors for achieving the large, upright look of Winx wings.
1. Use heavy-duty wire for the frame. Use coated gardening wire, steel wire, or even flattened wire coat hangers for a lighter option. Shape the wire into your desired wing pattern, leaving a long "stem" at the base of each wing panel.
2. Reinforce the frame by wrapping the wire with
floral tape. For larger wings, use multiple wire hangers or thicker wire to prevent the frame from becoming flimsy. For internal support, you can also add veins or swirls within the frame using thinner, more pliable wire.
3. Construct a central "U-harness" Join the stems of all your wing panels together using excess wire or strong tape. Bend this central point into a U-shape that will sit flush against your back. For extra stability, you can cut a separate piece of heavy-duty wire and bend it into a U-shape to serve as the core.
4. Attach the covering. Cover your frame with a material like iridescent cellophane or organza fabric. Use spray adhesive to apply it, and then heat-seal it with an iron over baking paper. This shrinks the material tightly around the wire.
